In response to the recent legalization of recreational marijuana in Colorado, a medical marijuana bill was passed in the Kansas House and Senate.
Supporters say they are confident enough lawmakers will support the bill if it is put to a vote. It would introduce a regulated system to ensure the product is safe and that taxes are collected.
we believe the law could help boost the economy: "We don't want to give up the economic benefits, but we also don't want to miss the real benefits that are discovered when other states forget to get involved, and we've heard about it first-hand - from people who have used it in other states, so that's a top priority for us," said Duncan, Executive Director of the Kansas Cannabis Industry Association. "We are helping people to get access to something that is clearly having a positive impact".
