The push for full legalization of marijuana in Minnesota will be up for debate again this legislative session. The issue gained momentum last month when the House passed a federal law, but it still faces opposition in the Senate.
Minnesota voters legalized recreational marijuana in November for adults 21 and older and for adults 21 and older.
Winkler supports the legalization of marijuana and says it has two elements: "We want to create a safe, regulated market where people can buy cannabis and know what they are getting and where law enforcement knows where cannabis comes from in the community," Winkler said. He said the criminal aspect of marijuana is of paramount importance.
