Nebraskan Senator Introduces Medical Marijuana Bill
By Ramone Tarnaski
Nebraska state senator Anna Wishart successfully introduced a new bill last Friday which has the ability to legalize medical marijuana in the state of Nebraska. Wishart spearheaded a ballot initiative in 2020 which successfully gathered almost two-hundred thousand signatures in support of legalizing cannabis. Unfortunately, the initiative was shot down by the Nebraskan supreme court, who claimed that the petition violated the single-subject rule, and would allow the production and sales of cannabis.
Wishart stated Friday “I introduced another bill, LB474, to legalize medical cannabis. I do this to honor the Nebraskans I have met along this long and winding journey. They deserve representatives who will show up and go the distance for positive change that improves the lives of families in our state no matter how many challenges are met along the way."
