Texas District Attorney To Dismiss Marijuana Misdemeanor Charges
By Ramone Tarnaski
The Tarrant County Criminal Division says marijuana misdemeanor cases don't have to clog the courts. The Texas State District Attorney's Office and Texas Department of Public Safety are advising individuals who were in possession of fewer than two ounces on how to get the charges dismissed.
They must take three clean drug tests within three months and the Tarrant County district attorney's office will dismiss the charges. "One of the goals of our criminal justice system is rehabilitation, and sobriety is the beginning of it", said Sharen Wilson, TARRANT County's attorney. The most common misdemeanor in Tara County is the possession of marijuana less than two ounces. Last year, 3,750 cases were filed, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety's criminal division.
